As you play in a free
tournament, you have nothing to lose by giving all your chips in the
middle. If you win, you could very easily move toward the final table.
Since there are always simultaneous free rolls, you could sign up for a
few and make all-in during the first or second sheet, and if you win,
you focus on that tournament. Here it is of course totally dependent on
his luck, and while there is no strategy here here, but you should not
necessarily go with a 7 ♦ 2 ♠. There will always be some players who
want to follow suit after a few sheets of your all-ins. So wait until
you Ax was handed until you make your train.
If you play the first rounds tight, you can save yourself the bolder
all-ins that need to come unkindly when the big blind is increased
twice. It also allows you to study the other players: Who's playing to
win, and who is playing just for fun. If you have this information once,
you can go to pot with super-aggressive maniac out of the way, but to
steal pots and blinds of the more conservative players. However, this
strategy has the disadvantage that one has to deal with opponents that
have been recovered 20 times, but at the same time, one can easily lose
his chips by these players, if you hand a premium received. Avoid all-in
confrontations in pre-flop and you can focus better on the post-flop
play.
If the field has once been reduced to a third or a half, the free roll
will more and more resemble a regular tournament. Now players will get
the light at the end of the tunnel and the remaining survivors are not
so easily set with a marginal hand of all their chips after they have
invested so much in it, stick to it. Now is a good time to change their
style of play.
If you have played until now aggressively and constantly have pushed
into the center of your chips, you're now playing ultra conservative. At
this point, the frequent mistake is made, playing tight and waiting for
the other to throw your opponents for you. The problem with this
strategy is that the blinds and antes you eat while one or two other
players increase their stacks.
